| Additional Unit Information: |
| The neuro unit focuses on the treatment of stroke and movement disorders. The Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital Stroke Program has recently achieved recognition from The Joint Commission through their Disease Specific Certification program. To earn the Gold Seal of Approval (TM) the neuro team met all criteria through vigorous pursuit of quality measures recognized as best practices in healthcare. |

| As needed patients requiring close monitoring for safety would be provided a rehab nursing technician to provide total care as well as ensure safety. These individuals document patient behaviors and response to interventions/treatment on a monitor flowsheet. During the week behavior rounds are held lead by a neuropsychologist to adjust the care plan. Safety Monitor staff are informed of changes and as patients progress the close monitoring is discontinued. Braintree Rehabiltation Hospital has found this process to be very successful in providing a safe unresricted environment. The staff involved in the monitoring are in addition to the scheduled staff. |

There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed hospital units. Patient care units differ based upon the types
of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered there. Education and experience levels of unit
staff, support from nurse educators and nurse managers also factor into unit staffing decisions, as does the unique characteristics and mission of each
hospital. It is also important to look at patient outcomes (including fall rates, pressure ulcer rates, and Hospital Compare measures related
to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care) in the Performance Measures section of PatientCareLink.
